It seems like there is always a reason for not doing what you want. The right details are consistently not available or lining up right, so you wait and wait for that to change and soon enough the moment has passed or the moment you should have made happen never occurred. Fact is, it was all on you. You make the decision, and whether or not the excuse is labeled an excuse, it is in fact just that. If you want something, why not go after it? Why not reach for it and do it? To help you get out of your own way, here are 5 reasons you create for not doing what your heart desires. The point is to recognize them and shove them out of your head.
1. It’s not the right time.
Timing is important, yes, everyone knows that. However, what usually occurs is that because timing is noted as so highly valuable, people tend to turn to it as a valid pretext. Besides, what does the “right time” consist of? Unless you have an answer to that question, then you have no plan and are simply wasting time instead of just applying for the job or moving to California.
2. I do not have enough money.
There are certain things that it is understandable not to have enough money for. Nonetheless, if you have enough to buy expensive shoes and expensive dinners, then maybe “enough money” is not your problem- it’s how you use it. Maybe if you hold out on some of those luxuries to put toward that cooking class or that trip you’ve always wanted to take, you’ll have an experience that is priceless in many ways.
3. I will need a car.
If you want to go somewhere and a lack of car is your concern, then throw that away because it’s not sufficient enough of a reason to just not go. People get around everywhere without a car. If you really want to go, your feet, a train or a bus could definitely help get you there.
4. My friends don’t want to.
You are a grown person. You can go alone. Sure, it may be more fun with someone to share an experience with, but if you wait for others to jump aboard your idea, then prepare to also wait a lifetime. The best decision you can make is to plan for yourself; if others chose to join, then great and if not, that’s okay too.
5. My body isn’t where I want it to be.
Why is this even brought up? Your weight or shape should never hold you back from doing what makes you happy. Go on that vacation. Go on that date. Happy people are better than anyone who is simply just abs or skinny. Time will pass anyways so why not enjoy every step.
