The Oscar winning, NJ born, Anne Hathaway, poses topless for Bazaar Magazine, but relax, she’s covered. In an interview with the magazine she opens up about the “Hathahaters” and her public image.
Hathaway, 31, won the Oscar for her role in “Les Mis,” but due to an accused “inauthentic” acceptance speech, she began to loose the respect of her fans. The morning following the Oscars, the star admits she googled herself to find a new hater group called the, “Hathahaters.” The group toys with her last name as a gimmick.
To Bazaar, she admits that she was, “Shocked and slapped and embarrassed. Even now I can feel the shame.”
Hathaway is first to admit that her public speaking skills aren’t perfect. “I really struggle with it—it makes me incredibly anxious.” We have learned this from her Mia Thermopolis days when she starred in, “The Princess Diaries.”
“While everyone was still getting onstage, I spoke. I should have gone after everyone else. I own that; it was rude. People saw that as grabby, I guess. I don’t know.”
After winning an Oscar, parts come flying in though this was not the case. “I had directors say to me, ‘I think you’re great. You’re perfect for this role, but I don’t know how audiences will accept you because of all this stuff, this baggage.’”
After some time, Hathaway confesses that she has learned from the experience and that it has made her stronger. She’s not afraid to be herself and is brushing the, “Hathahaters” off. Her career is back on track as her new movie, where she plays an astronaut alongside Matthew McConaughey called “Installer,” hits theatres this month.
She is currently working on her latest film, “The Intern,” alongside Robert Di Nero, which is filmed in New York.
