Anthony Fauci, the top infectious disease expert of the US, said on Thursday that a post-coronavirus normal could return to “normal” by the end of the year. It comes after US President Joe Biden Christmas normalcy target.
While talking to the local news channel, Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), said that there were many factors at play, including the new variants of respiratory that will influence when the country can return to normalcy. Earlier he had guided millions of Americans to the long-sought something close to “normal life” in the early autumn.

The leader of the country’s fight against the pandemic expects the residents to return to below-capacity theaters by the end of this month. However, he further added that the Americans would still have to wear facemasks in a bid to prevent any further outbreak of the deadly disease.
On Tuesday, during a town hall on CNN, President Biden set Christmas as the target for a potential return to normal life. Despite the hopes for a better situation, Fauci warned the new variants of the respiratory disease could trigger an increase in cases.
Meanwhile, the US remains the worst-affected country in terms of confirmed infections. As of Friday, the health officials have recorded as many as 27.9 million cases with nearly 493,000 fatalities. Besides, the harsh weather in several states has affected the vaccination drive, just as the new administration is trying to speed up the inoculation.
During his election campaign, Biden had vowed to administer more than 100 million coronavirus vaccines in his first hundred days. However, while talking to CNN, the Biden administration’s pandemic spokesperson Andy Slavitt stated that no vaccine badges have been spoiled.
