Meet Bart Jansen, a Dutch artist who made headlines a few years back for turning his dead cat into a fully-functioning, fur-covered drone. The cat, named Orville, was killed after it was hit by a car. To commemorate his death, Jansen decided to turn his dead pet into a helicopter. Although this may not be every pet-owner’s first instinct following the death of their pet, the decision to pursue such an interesting branch taxidermy has proved lucrative for Jansen.
Back in 2015, Metro reported that Bart Jansen was preparing to turn the body of a deceased cow into another helicopter. Jansen himself admitted that he didn’t know how to actually build a drone; instead, he inquired the help of engineer Arjen Beltman. As of recent, their bizarre work has gained the attention of social media: AJ+ released a video report on Jansen’s “projects,” capturing video not only of his famous cat-copter, but also of a flying ostrich, flying rat, flying shark, and even a badger-submarine.
