It has become common practice for major games to release open, public beta tests in the months prior to their launches, and EA’s Battlefield 1 is no different. Hot on the heels of fellow EA game Titanfall 2’s tech test, the Battlefield 1 Beta kicks off on August 31st, but some fans will be able to get in early.
A promotional deal was offered to fans who signed up for the Battlefield Insider program by August 21st. Those who did that and selected their gaming platform of choice (PC, PlayStation 4, or Xbox One) can test out the new World War 1-set shooter starting tomorrow, Tuesday, August 30th.

Codes are set to be delivered to registered emails tomorrow, as a Twitter exchange with a fan revealed. If there’s an official start time for the beta, it has yet to be revealed.
The Battlefield 1 Beta will allow players to test out the game (and stress test the servers) on one of the game’s maps: the dusty Sinai Desert, which features a massive armored train, as well as rideable horses, and pilotable planes, tanks, and more. Two classic Battlefield game modes will be available: the massive 32 vs. 32 Conquest mode, and the smaller-scale 12 vs. 12 Rush mode. The 64 player maximum is in line with previous titles in the series, and can result in some pretty chaotic and epic virtual firefights.
There’s a lot still unknown, both about the game and this particular beta. The exact PC specifications have yet to be announced, making that another good thing to test out on the beta (though optimization for computers has yet to be finished, developer DICE mentioned). In addition, it’s unknown if Sinai Desert will be the only playable map throughout the beta. A map based in France was featured earlier at this year’s E3 and a previous tech test, but has not been confirmed for the upcoming beta.
If you’re not signed up for the beta, you won’t have to wait too long for the full game. Battlefield 1 will be released on October 21st for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
