Caleb Love’s late free throws send No. 12 Arizona over No. 2 Duke

On November 11, the No. 12 Arizona Wildcats defeated the second-ranked Duke Blue Devils 78-73 in a thrilling nonconference game in Durham, N.C. Keshad Johnson led Arizona with 14 points, and Caleb Love sealed the victory with two free throws in the final seconds. Love, who transferred to Arizona from Duke rival North Carolina, had a perfect free throw record and had previously performed well against Duke in the 2022 Final Four semifinals. Duke’s Kyle Filipowski and Jeremy Roach had strong performances with 25 and 17 points respectively. Duke briefly took the lead in the second half, but Arizona responded with key baskets from Johnson and never trailed again. Oumar Ballo, Kylan Boswell, and Pelle Larsson also made significant contributions for Arizona. The Wildcats’ relentless work on the offensive boards helped them overcome some shooting struggles. Filipowski had a strong start to the second half, but Arizona maintained their lead. At halftime, Arizona held an eight-point advantage after a strong finish to the first half. Overall, it was an exciting game that showcased the talent and competitiveness of both teams.
