Cavs win Game 3, Still Face Must win Game 4

The Cavaliers came out firing in game three on Wednesday night at home and never looked back. They got out to a 9-0 start and early on got it up to 33-13. The Warriors did a nice job cutting into the lead though and got it down to seven but never closer then that. The lead at halftime was eight. The second half started the same exact way as the first half. Cavs went on a 19-5 run to start and took a 70-48 lead. The Cavs won 120-90 and this was exactly what they needed. They came out firing and never let up.

In the pregame huddle, LeBron told his teammates, “Follow my lead and do your job.” And that seemed to work out perfectly. LeBron finished with 32 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists. But it was his supporting cast who really showed up for the Cavs and was a huge part in this win. Kyrie Irving scored 30 points, including 16 in the first quarter, JR Smith scored 20, and Tristan Thompson scored 14 and also grabbed 13 rebounds. Another thing, Kevin Love didn’t play in this game. And the question is how much of an impact does Love even have on this series. And that’s not to say Love isn’t a good player. It’s just he matches up bad with the Warriors and he just might not have a big effect on this series.

This was a big time performance from the Cavs, but they need the same thing in game four. They came back to Cleveland knowing they needed to win both of these games. So while the game three win was great, it means nothing if they don’t follow it up in game four. And if Kevin Love is available for game four, the Cavs should still stick to their game three starting lineup. They don’t need to totally limit Love, but have him come off the bench and see what he can do in that role. Friday night in game four is another do or die game for the Cavs, and they need to come out with the same intensity they showed in game three.
