With the Jurassic World movie’s massive success, there is no doubt that creator Colin Trevorrow will continue to make more, and main man Chris Pratt is already signed on for the “38” planned movies.
Jurassic World made box office history this weekend, becoming the biggest opening worldwide with a total of $511.8 million globally and $204.6 million in the domestic box office.
When Entertainment Weekly asked Pratt if he would continue on if their were to be sequels to the dinosaur mania, the actor was already one step ahead of us.
“I am. They have me for I think 38 movies or something,” Pratt announces.
In fact, Pratt is over-joyed with the success of the film. He took time to write on his Facebook page Saturday after the movie release:
“It feels so wonderful to hear the overwhelmingly positive response. We are incredibly blessed and overcome with joy at the outcome of the movie and couldn’t be more appreciative for the amazing support you’ve shown so far. This is bigger than all of us. Thank you, thank you, thank you!”
There is a lot for Trevorrow to think about for the sequel’s storyline, but he has already revealed that it might not actually take place within any of the parks.
“I felt like it was my responsibility to at least tee up where we could go and in doing that I felt like I don’t want to make it yet another island movie or another theme park movie,” Trevorrow told EW. “I felt by introducing a couple key ideas and some of them are introduced by Dr. Wu, played by B.D. Wong, and even the simple idea that these people at Jurassic World won’t always be the only people that can clone a dinosaur. “
As Trevorrow offers the idea of a whole new setting for the Jurassic empire that has always been held at the island, Isla Nublar, since the start of Jurassic Park in 1993, he goes on to add,
“We never imagined what happens when this technology goes open source. I think the minute that you add an idea like that into something like this it can open up the minds of every young person who loved these movies. I think there’s a lot room to grow.”
Interesting to see how he will pan it all out and what role the dinosaurs will take, as well as Pratt and whichever characters decide to sign-on for the sequel(s).
