For support of a candidate like Ted Cruz, one would expect maybe a country song. However, the Christian rap group, We Are Watchmen, has written a rap song in support of Ted Cruz. The group released the song on Wednesday to express their support and how they want a “Reagan revolution part 2.”
The rap group describes themselves as having “movement that uses music and message to mobilize American Christians to civic duty.” It seems as though the group feels that Cruz is the candidate that will help with their mission. In their song, titled “Set it on Fire,” some of the lyrics read, “When power is concentrated centrally and federally / It creates dependency that’s medically like leprosy / Our heredity and pedigree is liberty intrepidly / Moral individuals and family’s the recipe.” And then they go onto say “And for our next president, we’re all in for Ted Cruz.”
Also, on their website, the group has said, “Just as many churches in Germany sang louder on Sunday mornings to drown out the sounds of wailing Jews in boxcars on the way to the concentration camps, the majority of pulpits and pews in the American churches have been willfully ignoring the stench of blatant evil rising in this once godly nation.” However, there is no historical evidence of this. According to the group, this statement is to be similar with what is going on in America.
The group’s first album will be released on September 11 and is available on pre-order for $4.99.
