Last night a Grand Jury released their verdict about Ferguson Police Officer, Darren Wilson. He will not be indicted.
This past August, Wilson fatally shot and killed teenager Michael Brown who was walking in the middle of the street after he and a friend robbed a store. Wilson pulled over to tell the two to get out of the middle of the street, when they attacked.
Information regarding the cases are not typically released to the public and instead locked away for privacy reasons, though the publicity and outrage for this case has been so severe, testimonies of the case have been released.
According to Wilson, Brown began hitting him while he was still in his car. “I felt that another of those punches in my face could knock me out or worse… I’ve already taken two to the face and I didn’t think I would, the third one could be fatal if he hit me right,” Wilson stated via CNN.
“As he is coming towards me, I tell, keep telling him to get on the ground, he doesn’t. I shoot a series of shots. I don’t know how many I shot, I just know I shot it,” he said.
“I know I missed a couple, I don’t know how many, but I know I hit him at least once because I saw his body kind of jerk,” he said.
Race riots have been formed in the streets of Ferguson Missouri, assaults as well as setting cars on fire, the governor was forced to call in the National Guard, shut down schools and police were even forced to use tear gas against the crowds.
