As many as three people have been killed in France on Thursday with several other injured in a knife attack near a Church in the city of Nice. Christian Estrosi, the mayor of the city, announced that the suspect behind the brutal killing had been arrested.
The mayor further described the stabbing as a “terrorist attack.” Estrosi said in a social media post that he had advised the residents of the city to avoid going to the incident area and let the law enforcement do its job.

While speaking to the media reporters, the mayor of Nice said that after his arrest, the suspect of the killing was shouting “God is Great” in Arabic. Estrosi further added that the French President Macron would also be visiting the city soon.
Nice’s mayor said that the suspect who was shot and injured by the officer after the killings made the meaning behind his actions clear, adding that the man had horribly killed the victims. Local media reported that a man had attacked several people, fatalities of the unfortunate incident included a woman who had been decapitated.
Reportedly, two people died in the church while the other managed to get out of there but later scummed to several injuries. Gerald Darmanin, the Interior Minister of the Macron administration, said that an operation was underway by the law enforcement agencies and that he would be chairing a high-level meeting to discuss the incident.
Apparently, the attacker was acting alone, and police are not searching for other assailants in the city of Nice, media reports suggested. In a separate incident, police authorities in the city of Avignon shot dead a suspect who threatened passers-by with an assault weapon. Meanwhile, In Saudi Arabia, a man stabbed and wounded a guard outside the French consulate in Jeddah. These developments come after the killing of a French teacher for showing derogatory caricatures to school kids.
