Diet Coke has to be one of the most popular soft drinks on the market, and some are even preferring it over its original Coca-Cola. To keep up with its grand flavor, the company has hired designer Jonathan Anderson to create a new designer series for the bottle.
This will not be Anderson’s typical work, like his recent women’s fall ready-to-wear collection, but he is no stranger to the American soda brand. In the past, he has worked with Diet Coke’s “Regret Nothing” campaign, designing a notebook and two different t-shirts for them. But this time, he has a grander task.
According to WWD, the design will feature photographs, which will be a first for the brand. There will even be a limited-edition collector’s box set available at Harvey Nichols Stores as of August 17, and it will cost around $39.
Single bottles will also be for sale costing around $3 per bottle.
A part of the collaboration, Anderson made a video describing the creation of his designs and the inspiration he grabbed from.
“What I like and what inspires me is the idea of using photography, making something that you wanted to touch. It’s the perfect form,” he explains on the video.
He also explains that the type of photography is “like a postcard” and played with an array of different color palettes.
This is not the first fashion collaboration Diet Coke has made with industry icons either. Designers such as Patricia Fields and Marc Jacobs have designed for the company and Matthew Williamson, Jean Paul Gaultier and Karl Lagerfeld have created bottle designs as well.
Anderson’s official designs will be revealed to the public at the end of July, and the new designed bottle could be picked up in stores on August 17.
