Dorian, the interactive storytelling platform, has raised $3.25 million in a seed funding round led by Capital Partners.

Some other investors in the company include VGames, Konvoy Ventures, Michael Chow, London Venture Partners. Andover Ventures and the talent management company, Night Media. Moreover, John Howell, the former vice president of partnerships at Twitch, has joined the board as an independent director.

The CEO of the company, Julia Palatskova, stated that she wants to provide a platform for storytellers to tell their stories in a unique way. However, new fiction writers make many mistakes, so this platform will help writers collaborate and minimize these mistakes.

Previously, Palatskova worked as the Head of business development at G5 Entertainment. She said that, although there are other existing fiction platforms, she saw an opportunity in the industry. She stated that “most platforms are single players with no opportunity for writers to collaborate with others.”

According to Palatskova, you can interact with a story in real-time with the writers. “In terms of productivity, there is no difference between writing fiction and using our platform to write fiction.”

Writers can use Dorian to write their interactive stories and publish them through the Dorian app. Palatskova stated that Dorian provides an analysis of how the readers are responding. This isn’t just helpful for creating stories but also to monetize them through premium story choices.

In early tests involving around 50,000 players, writers improved the monetization by 70%. Moreover, Palatskova noted that creating multiple branches is quite a fast and easy process.

Currently, Dorian is invite-only, however, the company plans to launch on a bigger level later this year. Palatskova is hiring writers with or without any gaming experience. She aims to make Dorian an interactive platform, like Twitch or Roblox for writers.

March Capital’s Gregory Milkens said in a statement, “The success of Dorian in creating storytelling while prioritizing monetization is amazing for the writers. Julia and her team are creating a platform to capture the capable but underrepresented audience of diverse content creators.”
