A little over a week before the new season of the popular television show “Game of Thrones” premieres, George R.R. Martin surprised fans with a sneak peak at the new book. On Thursday Martin released a chapter from the new book “The Winds of Winter.” Martin released the new chapter on his website and is up for all fans to read. The chapter follows Sansa under her alias of Alayne, a little after the death of Lysa Arryn. Sansa must keep up her act that she is Little Finger’s bastard in order to survive.

Fans have been waiting patiently for new work from the author of the famous book series, although it still has not been announced when the book will be released. Martin’s last book “A Dance with Dragons,” was released in 2011, and it seems fans are still going to be waiting for the new book. However, at least fans know that Martin is at least working on “The Winds of Winter.” He has said that the book may be finished this year, but Martin has been teasing fans saying he’s almost done foe some time. Regardless, fans can look forward for the new season of “Game of Thrones” to air on April 12. This can tie them over for about 10 weeks, the duration of the season.

Martin first published “A Game of Thrones” in 1996, starting the series that has taken the nation by storm.
