Many people feel awkward and lonely going to the movies alone, but going to the movies alone may be very comforting and rewarding. Here are a list of reasons why going to the movies alone is nothing to be afraid of.
1. The first thing to point out is that no one is supposed to talk during a movie anyway, although the local theater can be a big social gathering spot, in the end everyone sits in the dark and watches the movie in silence, well hopefully everyone does.
2. Most of us watch movies alone at homes, what’s the difference between the recliner at home, and the chair at the theater? Absolutely nothing. Also if you watch a movie in the theater the chances of getting distracted by household chores, homework, or whatever, will not be in your way, and you can fully watch the movie and catch all the details you may miss because of distractions.
3. A good suggestion for solo moviegoers however, may be to go early to a matinee. Matinees host a large amount of lone patrons, so this may be the best time for those warming up to the idea of going to a film alone. Plus the prices are significantly cheaper for matinees then they are for the rest of the show times.
4. Solitude is nothing to fear, you should be comfortable being on your own, and seeing a film without distractions from friends or others who may make the film you go see even more enjoyable. Even NBA star Lebron James attends movies alone very frequently. Once you get rid of the idea that it’s awkward or weird, then you’ll see how relaxing it truly is.
