Harry Shearer who has been a part of “The Simpsons” since the beginning will not be returning for the next season. Shearer has voiced some of the most iconic characters like Mr. Burns, Ned Flanders Principal Skinner, and Waylon Smithers.
Shearer is leaving because he rejected a deal that the rest of the cast accepted.
“The Simpsons” show runner, Al Jean, released a statment that “Harry Shearer was offered the same deal the rest of the cast accepted, and passed. The show will go on and we wish him well. Maggie took it hard. We do not plan to kill off characters like Burns and Flanders but will recast with the finest voiceover talent available.”
Thank goodness that they aren’t killing off any characters. They have lasted for almost 30 years on television it would be a tragedy if they died off now. Some of us are still getting over the loss of Maude.
Shearer has said that since now his obligations to “The Simpsons” are over he can now have the freedom to do other projects. He shared his feelings on Twitter on Wednesday.
