No matter how many people say it, Game of Thrones fans will not accept the fact that Jon Snow is dead. The truth is, to us book and show fans, he may be dead, but that doesn’t mean that he can’t come back to life. We’ve seen it before on the show, why not again?
We saw Jon Snow get stabbed repeatedly by his brothers of the Night’s Watch on the season 5 finale. The producers and the actor of Jon Snow, Kit Harrington have been saying that the character is dead. Months after the episode aired, HBO’s president of programming, Micheal Lombardo, has joined the frey and said that Jon is indeed dead.
“Dead is dead is dead is dead. He be dead,” Lombardo told reporters at HBO’s 2015 TCA summer press tour session. “Yes. Everything I’ve seen, heard or read, Jon Snow is dead.”
Despite what they all have to say, the evidence proves otherwise. Kit Harrington still sports Jon Snow’s long locks, despite that a few years ago he said he would cut his hair once he was off the show.
“I had a sit-down with [Game of Thrones showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff], we did the Tony Soprano walk [letting an actor know they’re being whacked]. And they said, ‘Look, you’re gone, it’s done.’… Quite honestly, I have never been told the future of things in this show, but this is the one time I have,” he told EW. “They sat me down and said, ‘This is how it is.’ If anything in the future is not like that, then I don’t know about it—it’s only in David and Dan and George’s heads. But I’ve been told I’m dead. I’m dead. I’m not coming back next season. So that’s all I can tell you, really.”
As far as the book series goes, that last we saw of Jon Snow was similar to how the show panned out. However, we are not given the details if he survived or not. It would be extremely disappointing if Jon Snow really was dead because the popular R+L=J theory never panned out completely. It is also another popular fan theory that Jon is the ‘song of ice and fire’ and one of the three dragon heads in the series’ prophecy.
Also, we all love Kit Harrington’s puppy face too much to see him go!
