HBO has reportedly given their three new shows Westworld, Insecure, and Divorce second season renewals.
The second season pickups have allegedly given the network a welcome sigh of relief. HBO’s new program president, Casey Bloys, reportedly claims that the network suffered a loss with their drama series Vinyl.
After a lot of internal changes, Bloys also claims that HBO had a lot riding on Westworld’s success. Since their popular series Game of Thrones is heading toward its final two seasons, HBO is trying to restock its drama content with Westworld’s lead.
Bloys commented that he is excited about the broad-based ratings and cultural influences to build their show from.
Westworld has developed a large fan following among HBO viewers who analyze and parse over every detail of the show. The show is reportedly described as a “puzzle-within-a-puzzle” content by TV critics.
Bloys has commented that Westworld’s fan’s obsessions have generated through social media posts and podcasts. The HBO program president claims that he checks Twitter every Sunday night after Westworld airs to read fans reactions.
The HBO program president also stated that he likes to gain insight from the show’s plot twists and mysteries by analyzing the fan’s real-time detective work.
Bloys reportedly claims that the show’s fans details are impressive and thanked Westworld’s showrunners for creating an inquisitive show. Westworld was created by Johnathan Nolan and Lisa Joy.
For all three renewed shows, Bloys claims HBO’s creative team have noticed these new shows have gained a niche audience with fans and critics alike. Westworld has had undeniable success with an average 11.7 million viewership audience per episode. Divorce has an average 4.4 million viewership and Insecure has an average 3.2 million viewership audience.
HBO has reportedly also renewed the three shows for ten episodes each. Casey Bloys also commented that there are currently no major casting and/or showrunner changes for any of their renewed shows.
