Hillary Clinton and Elizabeth Warren’s Liberal Pull

Earlier this week, Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton campaigned with Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren in Cincinnati. The tag team dressed in similar colors, spoke similarly, and spewed the same ideas.

Monday was Warren’s first time campaigning with Clinton and their message was clear, they are there for women. The duo spent their time joking and viciously campaigning against rival Donald Trump. They talked about the atrocious wage and economic inequalities that Americans face as well as other major issues Hillary has been pushing.

It was evident that Warren and the Sanders campaign had shaped part of Clinton’s platform, for increasing the minimum wage and taxing big corporations was pushed greatly on the agenda. This was perhaps used by Clinton to gain the support of more liberal voters who had favored Bernie Sanders.

Senator Warren had been pressured early in the Democratic Primary to lend her support to Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont. Senator Sanders has been a longtime socialist and these progressive ideas are some that Warren has rallied behind in the past. However, she held out her endorsement until after it was mathematically impossible for Sanders to be the presidential nominee and has since endorsed Hillary Clinton for president. Democratic party supporters are hoping that liberal Elizabeth Warren’s support could aid Clinton in picking up hesitant Sanders voters.

The chances of Elizabeth Warren getting onto Clinton’s ticket as vice president are very unlikely, though her support has been very helpful to Hillary’s campaign. Warren is an avid attacker via social media on businessman Donald Trump. Her aggressions towards him have even garnered rebuttals by the Republican nominee.

Hillary has been gaining the support of more and more prominent member of her party, including Warren and President Barack Obama. She’s hoping these endorsements will allow her to gain more support from demographics she does not always appeal to. The Democratic Convention is in July and although it is certain that she will be the nominee, the general election will come with a whole new set of obstacles.
