Indian skipper Kaur suspended by ICC for Code of Conduct breaches

India captain Harmanpreet Kaur will be absent from two international matches and will face a 75% match fee fine as a result of two violations of the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Code of Conduct, according to the sport’s governing body on Tuesday.

Last week, during the third match of the Women’s Championship series against Bangladesh in Dhaka, the 34-year-old expressed her frustration by striking the wickets with her bat after being dismissed. This action led to three demerit points being added to her disciplinary record.

The ICC stated, “She was found guilty of breaching article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which pertains to ‘showing dissent at an umpire’s decision.’”

Furthermore, Kaur was fined for a Level 1 offense related to “public criticism in relation to an incident occurring in an international match.” During the presentation ceremony, she openly criticized the umpiring in the match.

The ICC confirmed that Kaur admitted to the offenses and accepted the proposed sanctions, eliminating the need for a formal hearing.
