Starting today in select markets, users of Instagram Stories will be able to add background music to their photos and videos, according to a report from The Verge. Thousands of songs will be offered directly in the app, with new songs to be added daily.

Much like Instagram’s existing polls and sliders stickers, adding songs to a Story can be done through the stickers menu. Users can simply drag the new “music” sticker into their posts, and select a song to include. Users will then be able to scrub through the song to select the exact segment that suits their Stories.

In addition to the music sticker, Instagram will add a music camera mode which will allow music to be played while a user records the video. This has many applicable uses, such as recording lip-sync videos to popular songs.

In addition to these new music features, Instagram also announced in its blog post that its Stories feature is now used by over 400 million users daily, a big milestone considering its relative newness.

The music features are currently available in “select countries,” but a wider rollout might take a while. This is likely due to the difficulty of securing global music licenses, but Instagram promises a global rollout as soon as possible.
