The Iraqi diplomat and ambassador told world leaders of the United Nations that victims of the recent beheadings, burnings and crucifixions held by ISIS may be harvesting organs to help fund their operations. The diplomat then reported that bodies discovered in mass graves have surgical incisions and are missing organs including their kidneys.
Ambassador Mohamed Alhakim stated on Tuesday night that, “We have bodies. Come and examine them. It is clear they are missing certain parts.” Alhakim then said that an estimated dozen doctors have been killed in Mosul because they refused to aid in the harvesting of the organs.
Nikolay Mladenov, the outgoing U.N. envoy to Iraq, stated that in January alone, 790 people have been killed. It’s rumored thats these victims are also rumored to have missing organs and used for financial benefits.
While ISIS continues to develop and grow, the main concern of Islamic political groups is trying to regain the land that ISIS has taken possession of. Mladenov states, “Especially worrying is the increasing number of reports of revenge attacks committed particularly against members of the Sunni community in areas liberated from ISIL control.”
While US forces and other militant groups are trying to counteract and seize the actions of ISIS there are grave concerns of the groups killings turning into genocide. The killings and targeting of certain ethnic groups does show the beginning of such a horrifying events.
