Israel-Gaza fight steps into the second day and gets worse

The violence between Israel and Gaza is continuing. An Israeli airstrike killed an Islamic Jihad commander, and it has made the situation worse. After a stagnate night, Israel started to face rocket fire again. On Wednesday, Israel aircraft also directed revengeful strikes. 32 Palestinians, including children and women, have been killed by Israeli fire, according to Gaza’s health ministry Hamas-run. Sixty-three people in Israel have been treated for injuries and relax stress symptoms.

PIJ- Palestinian Islamic Jihad introduced a ceasefire, and it includes the end to targeted killings of Militants in Israel and Gaza border protestors. But Israel had not made any public comment over the truce offer yet.

Exactly what happened on Tuesday?

On Tuesday, in eastern Gaza, an Israeli airstrike on a residential building and senior PIJ military commander Baha Abu al-Ata and his wife died. At the same time, in Damascus, another leader of the Iran-backed group’s home was struck by an Israeli missile. A Syrian state media said that here, two people died, but Israel did not make any public comment on this incident.

Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime minister of Israel, mentioned Abu al-Ata as an “arch-terrorist” and a “ticking bomb” who has brought an imminent threat to the nation. It was thought that Abu al-Ata is the main reason behind the recent rocket fire from Gaza. He may have a direct connection with eleven days back attack on Sderot. He has also acted increasingly beyond the control of the militant group Hamas. Gaza militants said that Israel had crossed redline and in response, fired more than 200 rockets. IDF said that nearly 90% of the rockets were corked by Iron rocket has exploded on the main road very close to moving cars. Two people were slightly injured by shrapnel. A little eight years old girl has faced a heart attack in a bomb shelter and now she is in serious condition.

According to IDF, airstrikes were targeting PIJ rocket infrastructure and launching units. The health ministry of Gaza said that apart from Abu al-Ata and his wife, there are right more than eight people who died by these attacks.

What are Israel and Gaza saying?

Musab al-Buraim, the PIJ spokesman, said that it was not right to discuss Egyptian efforts. On Wednesday, at the start of the special cabinet meeting, Mr. Netanyahu has warned PIJ that if Gaza does not stop the rocket fire, then in reply, Israel will continue to hit Gaza. He said that Gaza has only one choice, and that is preventing the attacks, or it has to absorb more and more blows.  Brig Gen HidaiZilberman, a former IDF spokesman, told Israel media that additional Iron dome batteries are in central Israel as a precaution, and they will be sent to communities near the Gaza border. They will use those accordingly (if Gaza does not stop attacks by militants). Yet there is no sign of Hamas (which controls Gaza) that means to take part in the fight. If it joins, the conflict will increase sharply.
