Kushner has recently been under investigation from Robert Mueller’s special counsel. Mueller’s team has examined Kushner’s role in the president’s campaign, Trump’s transition to the oval office. There is much speculation about the president’s actions including his involvement with the Russians and the firing of former of FBI Director James Comey.
In February, Kushner lost his clearance due to procedures that protect America’s secrets which were implemented when the president’s former staff secretary Rob Porter resigned after months of maintaining his position despite spouse abuse allegations, according to CNN.
In November, Kushner originally met with Mueller’s team to answer questions about Michael Flynn who would later admit to making false statements to the FBI. Last month, Kushner met with Mueller’s council for a second interview that lasted seven hours.
Kushner is finally receiving his clearance back after submitting his initial clearance application multiple times. His first application didn’t include any foreign contacts but he would later add these sources to future applications.
Interestingly, Kushner still had left off an infamous 2016 Trump Tower meeting that included himself, a Russian lawyer, Donald Trump Jr. and former campaign chairman Paul Manafort.
Kushner updates his application to add this meeting and now his clearance has been fully restored The Mueller investigation must be done with him for now.
