The speculation on Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck’s failing marriage was in fact true; the Hollywood stars are divorcing after 10 years of marriage.
The pair told E! News in a joint statement on Tuesday, “After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time. This will be our only comment on this private, family matter. Thank you for understanding.”
It comes as a shock to many to hear this news, as the actors were a favorite amongst the A-list couples in Hollywood. From the outside, they appeared to be the perfect couple with a beautiful family and amazing careers going for them, so it is very sad indeed to see such an influential Hollywood family split up.
The two have played side by side in many films, some of which including Daredevil and Pearl Harbor. A source from E! News told, “Things have been very challenging for the last several months.”
The insider went on to say that the couple only stayed together for this long “because of the kids” and that they “have been living separate lives and preparing for this for a long time.” The couple has been in therapy to work on their marriage for two years, in which 10 months of that time Affleck stayed in hotels during a trial separation.
Ben and Jen want what’s best for their children, and “they will be co-parenting.” According to the source, Ben will be living in a separate building on the family’s property. It seems to be a very amicable situation, as the divorce will be proceeded by a mediator, not in court.
Hopefully, Garner and Affleck will be much happier with this arrangement, as will the rest of their family.
