In a new interview with The New York Times, actress Jennifer Lawrence reveals how she’s handling fame now that she’s been in the spotlight for a few years.

Lawrence gained most of her stardom for starring in the popular Hunger Games franchise. The fifth and final installment of the saga will be released in November.

“If Katniss was scared in the last movie, then she is almost numb in the next one. She’s been through so much,” says Lawrence about her character’s evolution.

In the films, based on the popular book series by Suzanne Collins, a future society lives in the ruins that were once America. The Capitol, the rich, tyrannical state feeding off of the other “districts,” uses the Hunger Games as a way to unite the citizens. The problem: the competition is a fight to the death, all involving kids younger than 18.

Much like Katniss’s emotional journey throughout the films, Lawrence’s rise to fame has had its share of ups and downs. At only 24 years old, the actress has won an Academy Award and has been nominated for two others. Her down-to-earth personality and inspiring words about body image have made her one of the most popular actresses working.

The downs: the actress was a victim in a recent nude photo scandal. Her paycheck for “American Hustle,” which was relatively lower than her male counterparts, was revealed during the infamous Sony Hack.

“I don’t feel like I’m being dragged by anything anymore. I feel more in control. I’m calmer. I know that there’s no point to feeling anxious all day, so I try not to,” says after being asked how she has changed since the first “Hunger Games.”

The actress still has fears, however. They’re just different.

“I’m so scared to say anything now. I can see every negative way that people can take it, and I don’t want to sound like I’m complaining. ‘Oh, she’s so conceited now. Oh, she’s so jaded now.’ It probably comes from Googling myself. If it were up to me, I would not talk. I would just act.”

After The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 is released, audiences will see Lawrence in Joy, the David O. Russell-directed film about a young girl who becomes a successful businesswoman. O. Russell and Lawrence have previously teamed up for Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle.

Lawrence also has other projects in the works. She revealed that she and comedian and Trainwreck star Amy Schumer are writing a movie together.

“Amy and I were creatively made for each other. We have different flavors. It’s been the most fun experience of my life.”

Lawrence also talked about some of her other famous friends Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, and Woody Harrelson and how close they are in real life.

“[Yesterday] Woody texted me, and said he had a dream about me. And I was like, ‘Was I amazing?” And then Josh called me and told me he had a dream about Woody. And then my friend came over to my house and told me she had a sex dream about Liam.”

Lawrence remarked on the bizarre coincidence with her signature wit and sarcasm.

“I didn’t dream about anyone, but there’s always tonight.”
