Keegan-Michael Key Attends Correspondent Dinner

The Comedy Show “Key and Peele” is a huge hit with all their smart and hilarious sketches. They have quotable and memorable characters, like the Substitute Teacher who said to a student that he “Done messed up A-Aron!” One of their more popular characters that makes a reoccurring appearance is Luther, President Obama’s Anger Translator. In the sketch the president, played by Jordan Peele, will say something as eloquently as Obama always expresses himself. Then Luther, played by Keegan-Michael Key, “translates” what President Obama actually means and is actually angry about. This sketch is very popular among their fans, including President Obama himself.

Obama has met the comedians before and recently brought the character Luther to the Correspondent Dinner. Obama starts his speech out as normal, and to the surprise of those attending the dinner, Luther the Anger Translator walks out to join the president. The president talked about the media, Ted Cruz receiving six million dollars, Hilary Clinton’s need to fund, and climate change. Luther was there to explain the media’s coverage of Ebola and made it seem like the destruction of life was happening, but never did. When it came to Clinton’s funding Luther goes onto say how she will get the money and that “Khaleesi is coming to Westeros.” The jokes about the drought in California were the best, explaining that Bradley Cooper came to the east coast to get some water.

The skit ended when it seemed that the president lost control and actually got angry. Where Luther told the president that he “doesn’t need an anger translator”  he needs some counseling. The skit brought so many laughs to the Correspondent Dinner, which is probably a nice change for an event like this.
