A leaker said that they were offering personal data of more than 500 million Facebook users, including telephone numbers and other data – virtually free. According to Alon Gal, the database seems to be the same as the same set of telephone numbers linked to Facebook that has been circulating in a hacker circle since January and whose existence was first reported by the motherboard publication technology, co-founder of Israeli Cybercrime Company Hudson Rock.

Reuters reported that it could not vet the information immediately, which is being offered for several euros on famous sites for low-level hackers. Still, Gal said on Saturday that he had verified the authenticity of at least some of the data by comparing it with the telephone number of the person he knew. Other journalists say they can also match phone numbers known as details in dump data.

In a statement, Facebook said that the data was “ancient” and related to the problem that had been repaired in August 2019. The effort by Reuters to achieve leaker for telegram message services was not immediately successful.

Gal told Reuters that Facebook users must be aware of “social engineering attacks” by people who may have obtained their telephone numbers or other personal data in the coming months. News about the latest leakage here was first reported by Business Insider.

This is not the first time that many Facebook user telephone numbers have been found online. The vulnerability found in 2019 allows millions of people’s phone numbers to erode from the Facebook server that violates its terms of service. Facebook said that vulnerability was patched in August 2019.

Facebook previously vowed to crack down against mass data after Analytica Cambridge scraped 80 million data users, violating Facebook services’ provisions to target voters in US presidential elections.
