After taking down Vandal Savage in season one, the Legend of Tomorrow heroes expected future adversaries to be easily defeated. Although for the show’s second season, past villains from Arrowverse have united together to destroy not only the Legends, but reality itself.
Variety has sat down with CW star Matt Letscher, who portrays the Reverse-Flash in Legends of Tomorrow about the villain’s sinister plans. Letscher commented that his character has united Malcom Merlyn and Damien Darhk to go after the Spear of Destiny.
The weapon reportedly has the power to re-write reality permanently. Although, the actor commented that the villainous team are trying to find the pieces of the broken Spear.
Letscher commented that the Legion of Doom’s have kidnapped the Legends leader to find more information. Although the evil team has to tackle another major stumbling block.
The actor discussed how the leader, Rip, lost his memories about his past life as a Time Master who hid the Spear. When asked what else is frustrating his character, Letscher said that everything is a huge concern for him because he is a genius mastermind.
He commented that in upcoming episodes he is realizing the general incompetence of his teammates. Originally the three villains are partnering toward one goal, but each of them have different reasons to use the Spear.
One of Reverse Flash’s most challenging goals is to make sure all of the villains are working together for a common purpose.
Matt Letscher teased that Reverse Flash is using the other villains for his own gain. When asked why he doesn’t include them in his scheming, the actor said that he doesn’t trust anyone.
He also teased that he wants to recruit Leonard Snart into the Legion of Doom. Since Snart has personal ties to the Legends, he wants to use that as leverage.
The last question of the interview discussed what makes this evil character so sinister compared to all the other DC Comic villains. Matt Letscher said that it is his ability to scheme plans that were once impossible possible.
Legends of Tomorrow airs on Thursdays on The CW.
