Leinster captain Sexton cited for misconduct at Champions Cup final

Johnny Sexton, the captain of Ireland and Leinster, has been cited by European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR) for his behavior towards the match officials after Leinster’s loss in the Heineken Champions Cup final. The incident occurred when French side La Rochelle secured a narrow 27-26 victory over Leinster at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium last month. Despite being injured, Sexton entered the field after the match and was caught on video engaging in a heated discussion with the officials. The EPCR has filed misconduct complaints against Sexton and the club for their failure to control him. A video conference hearing has been scheduled for July 13 to address the matter. If found guilty, Sexton could potentially face a ban. It is worth noting that the 37-year-old is currently preparing for the World Cup with Ireland, which is set to take place in France in September.
