Every parent worries about their child in school, how their grades are, their behavior and whether or not they will excel in life. Schools are meant to be an educating and safe environment and that’s what parents expect above all else.
Teachers, Shelley Dufresne, 32, and Rachel Respess, 24, have been accused of sexual abuse towards a male student at Destrehan High School, near New Orleans, Louisiana. After a football game, the three returned to Respess’ apartment and did not reappear until the next morning. The 16 year-old, boy consented to the sexual act, speculated threesome, though legally you must be 18 years of age in order to consent to sexual activity in the USA. The incident may have also been video taped, according to reports.
News of the incident arose when the young student bragged to friends about sleeping with several of his teachers. Dufresne and Respess were arrested on Wednesday. Both teachers have been brought up with carnal knowledge, indecent behavior and contributing delinquency with a minor. They were released early Thursday after both posed a $7,000 bail bond. They have not yet been formally prosecuted but both women can face up to 17 years in jail and be registered as sex offenders.
Both teachers have been suspended without pay and school officials have not yet commented on the issue.
