PARIS — Ludovic de Saint Sernin is a designer popular for his sensual, gender-fluid creations. Ludovic De Saint Sernin became Creative Director at Ann Demeulemeester. It is a house in the ownership of Italian retailer Claudio Antonioli. He will launch his first collection during Paris Fashion Week in March 2023.

De Saint Sernin was born in Belgium. The designer grew up in Paris. He completed her education at the École Supérieure des Arts Appliqués Duperré. Before launching his own eponymous brand in 2017, he worked at several French fashion brands, including Balmain. He soon gained attention for his hedonistic aesthetic and non-binary approach to clothing design. De Saint Sernin advocates “equal opportunity nudity,” dressing people of all sexes in sheer suits, crystal mesh tanks, lace-up briefs, and “body-formatted” knitwear. He has a large following of it-girls and it-boys for these outfits. The following include Dua Lipa, Hailey Bieber, Bad Bunny, and Troye Sivan.

I always feel I relate to people’s stories more than a story that’s invented, so a lot of them are extremely autobiographical, he said to WWD last year. “When I launched the brand, the most essential thing was to be able to share my story through the collections.” He further said, “In the same manner that a musician or artist will pour their emotions into an album. I’m going to do the same thing in a collection.”

Fans of both De Saint Sernin and Demeulemeester will be able to observe the convergence of the two aesthetics. It will happen when De Saint Sernin debuts his first collection next year. Demeulemeester is famous for its gothic appearance and frequently mocks gendered dressing. De Saint Sernin will most likely continue his genderless design at Demeulemeester. He will be displaying a little more skin for the brand, which frequently covers its models in yards of draped black fabric. In a statement posted alongside the announcement, the company teased what’s to come now that De Saint Sernin has taken control.

The brand stated that Ludovic de Saint Sernin is following Ann Demeule Meester’s new direction. He is doing so by introducing his approach to fashion as a platform to shape and free one’s appearance. “Eroticism, tension, figure, flexibility, rawness, and a visual sense are specifying keystones of the language Ludovic de Saint Sernin is about to build.”

Demeulemeester created a cult around herself during her career. She is attracting followers who returned to her Covent des Cordeliers location year after year for her poetic runway shows. These shows featured fluidly tailored garments, slouched-on shirting, bias-cut dresses, and her distinctive butch-femme combination of leather and feathers. Patti Smith and Robert Mapplethorpe were some of her famous inspirations.

In an interview with Laird Borrelli-Persson of Vogue Runway on her Pitti exhibition. Demeulemeester stated, “I was keen in the tension between men and women, but also the tension between men and women within one person. “That is what makes every person really fascinating to me because everyone is different,” She and De Saint Sernin have that feeling in common.

An in-house design team has managed Ann Demeulemeester since July 2020. When the former creative director Sébastien Meunier left the firm, and Demeulemeester herself left in 2013. The Antwerp Six designer debuted in Paris in 1992 and rapidly established a cult following before branching out into menswear in 1996. She does not have any formal association with her eponymous label. However, She used to keep close contact with it. Demeulemeester is currently dealing with several projects, including ceramics, pottery, homeware, and lighting.

De Saint Sernin will unveil his debut collection for Ann Demeulemeester during Paris Fashion Week in March 2023 for the Fall/Winter 2023 season. In this way, Ludovic De Saint Sernin became Creative Director At Ann Demeulemeester.
