Harry Maguire has expressed his satisfaction with his decision to stay at Manchester United and fight for his place in the team. He believes that his choice has been justified after receiving a consistent run of games under manager Erik ten Hag. Last season, Maguire found himself lower in the pecking order, with Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, and Victor Lindelof being preferred options in central defense. There were even rumors linking him to a move to West Ham United during the transfer window. However, the 30-year-old decided to remain at Old Trafford and has capitalized on the injuries to Varane and Martinez to reclaim his position in the first team. He has started in the last eight games across all competitions. When asked if his recent run of games vindicated his decision to stay, Maguire confidently responded, “Of course.” He acknowledged the excellent performances of Varane and Martinez, who kept numerous clean sheets, and admitted that he had to be patient and wait for his opportunity. Maguire also reflected on his previous season, where he had a few chances to establish a consistent run of games but was hindered by illness and injuries. He is now relishing the opportunity to prove himself to the manager and is thoroughly enjoying playing for Manchester United. The team, currently in sixth place in the Premier League, will face Everton, who are in 14th place, on November 26.
