Panic and confusion broke out in Switzerland recently. According to CNN, a man stabbed passengers on a train in the country on Saturday. He also set fire to the train. There were dozens of people on the train when the incident occurred but only left six people injured. The incident occurred on the train on a stop between Buchs and Sennwald.
The person who caused the incident was a twenty-seven-year-old man. CNN is also reporting that the man caused the fire by pouring some form of liquid onto the train that caught on fire. The suspect also wound up injuring himself in the process.
There was a wide array of victims in this tragedy. A six-year-old child, two men (ages 17 and 50), and three women (ages 17, 34, and 43) were hurt. Some suffered from stab wounds while others had severe burns. All have been taken to hospitals to have their injuries treated.
Because of the incident, the train has some substantial damage. The railway services in the area have also been temporarily suspended. Buses have been brought in for the time being to help get people from one destination to another.
The name of the suspect has not yet been released. Officials have also not given any information the reasoning behind this attack and if the attacker worked alone or had partners. For now, authorities say that they are doing everything they can to solve this crime.
Unfortunately, incidents like this happen quite often in the world we live in. As these things occur, law enforcement and the people of these countries need to be prepared so that they can keep men and women of their nation safe. Thankfully, no one was hurt this time, but Switzerland officials can use this crime as an example of how to increase safety and emergency preparedness in the future.
