Manchester United defender Jonny Evans will be out of action for the “next few weeks” due to a thigh strain, according to his club. The injury occurred during United’s 4-3 Champions League defeat at FC Copenhagen. Evans joins a growing list of injured players at United, including Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, and Casemiro.
As a result of his injury, Evans will be unable to participate in Northern Ireland’s final Euro 2024 qualifiers against Finland and Denmark. Currently sitting in fifth place in Group H with six points, Northern Ireland will face Finland on Friday and host Denmark on November 20.
In September, Evans returned to United on a one-year deal after leaving the club eight years ago. He has started five league games so far this season. United is currently in eighth place in the Premier League, having accumulated 18 points from 11 matches. They will be hosting Luton Town on Saturday.
