Tottenham Hotspur midfielder James Maddison will not be participating in England’s upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia due to an ankle injury, as confirmed by his club. Maddison was substituted during the first-half stoppage time in Spurs’ 4-1 home loss to Chelsea, ending manager Ange Postecoglou’s unbeaten start to the season. Since joining Tottenham from Leicester City in June, Maddison has contributed three goals and five assists in 11 Premier League appearances. He now joins a growing list of injured players at Spurs, including Micky van de Ven, Richarlison, Ivan Perisic, Ben Davies, and Manor Solomon. The club announced on social media that Maddison will remain at Hotspur Way for rehabilitation with the medical staff. Currently sitting in second place, one point behind leaders Manchester City, Tottenham will face Wolverhampton Wanderers in their next match. Meanwhile, England will play against Malta at Wembley and then travel to North Macedonia in Group C. Reporting by Pearl Josephine Nazare in Bengaluru; editing by Mark Heinrich.
