I don’t like how you treat my daughter. Are you confused? You probably picked up messages from society about how when you want something, you have to ‘try harder, go at it, do whatever you can to get it. Don’t give up!’ Maybe it’s for this reason that you repeatedly ask my daughter out. In the halls, on the bus, and you write her poems.”

The mother, Dr. Lindsey Doe, who is also a doctor and sexual educator, took to YouTube to blog her request, in a video named “Dear Boy Who Likes My Daughter,” to an undisclosed teenage boy who will not take no for an answer.

Doe has reported that her daughter has continuously said no to the boy’s advances, but he continues to pursue the young girl despite the hesitation. While some people feel that the teenager’s school should deal with this situation, Doe feels that she should take matter into her own hands, and made the video, which has already had almost 140 thousand views.

The video to declares, “Someone tells you ‘no’ in any way, and you ask again? It’s not cool, it’s not attractive, it’s not respectful, it’s harassment. My daughter has the right to change her mind and the ability to let you know if she does. Until then, I expect that you do not ask her out, do not suggest a relationship, do not talk to her about her discomfort with you pursuing her. Leave her alone!”

Should Doe have taken to the Internet to ward of the boy? The video is clearly going viral, and could cause a lot of embarrassment for the adolescent. Doe who is a blogger, could potentially just be trying to make a bigger name for herself, but it’s clear that she is trying to protect her daughter. Anyone who is familiar with the family could piece together who the teenage is and that could cause him a lot of harm, and many may question if that is responsible parenting on Doe’s behalf.
