A mother in Webbers Fall, Oklahoma crept into her two sons rooms and decided to shoot them both while they were sleeping, shortly before she decided to commit suicide herself. Rebecca Smith, also known as Rebecca Brown, grabbed her large .22 rifle on January 5, and she decided to kill her two sons, Levi Brown and Garret Brown.
Smith decided to call her brother and told him that she was on the verge of committing suicide. Smith’s brother immediately called the authorities and told them what Rebecca had told him. It is unaware if Rebecca had told her brother if she planned to kill her two sons.
When officers arrived on the scene, right after Smith’s brother called them, they discovered the three bodies. It is still unknown why Rebecca decided to take the lives of her 24 and 25-year-old sons, and herself. Ashley Mullen, the deputy overseeing the case, did tell authorities that it was believed that Rebecca had been taking multiple prescriptions, for multiple mental health concerns that she had, which could have directly affected her mindset and attitude. The true result still remains uncertain, but an autopsy will determine if she was indeed under the influence of prescriptions at the time of the killings.
This story is just horrifying and something that sounds like it would appear in some sort of horror story, when the country hears this type of news we seem to show compassion for those families who suffer from incidences like this because we cannot fathom the idea of having this sort of thing done to our own loved ones.
