Mutinous Russian mercenary boss orders his fighters to turn back from Moscow to avoid bloodshed

Mutinous Russian mercenary leader Yevgeny Prigozhin announced on Saturday that he had instructed his troops, who were advancing towards Moscow in a convoy, to turn back and return to their bases to prevent any bloodshed. Prigozhin had previously expressed his desire to remove the top brass of the army and “reinstate justice.” Putin, on the other hand, stated that the mutiny must be decisively quashed. The Belarusian President’s office confirmed that Prigozhin had spoken with Putin’s approval and that the head of the Wagner militia had agreed to de-escalate the situation. In an audio message released by his press service, Prigozhin stated that they had embarked on a “march of justice” on June 23, and within 24 hours, they had reached within 200 km of Moscow without any loss of life. However, he acknowledged that the moment had come when bloodshed was a possibility, and they were turning back to their field camps as planned to avoid any Russian blood being spilled.
