Union Berlin’s David Fofana scored a second-half equaliser against Napoli, securing a 1-1 draw in the Champions League. This result ended Union Berlin’s 12-game losing streak but did not keep their knockout hopes alive. Matteo Politano gave Napoli a deserved lead in the 39th minute, but Fofana leveled the score seven minutes into the second half. Despite the draw, Napoli remains in second place in Group C, two points behind leaders Real Madrid. Napoli’s man-of-the-match, Politano, expressed disappointment at conceding the equaliser but praised the team’s performance. Union Berlin, who had lost all their previous group matches, are now at the bottom of the group with one point. Although they cannot reach the knockout stage, they still have a chance to finish third and qualify for the Europa League. Union Berlin captain Christopher Trimmel expressed relief at ending their losing streak and hopes the performance will provide energy for the upcoming matches. Napoli dominated the first half, with 70% possession, and took the lead before halftime through a deflected shot off Politano’s chest. Union Berlin hit the post just before halftime and then equalised in the second half with a quick break. Despite Napoli’s 18 corners and late pressure, they failed to score again.
