If you like eSports and anime, you’re in luck! A company by the name of Tencent is bringing eSports anime to life through a new show called “The King’s Avatar”
The King’s Avatar (a.k.a Master Of Skill, a.k.a Quan Zhi Gao Shou) follows Ye Xiu, a competitive player in a game called Glory. Ye is kicked from his team and decides to not stay on as a substitute, so he leaves the professional scene to find work. He ends up working at an Internet Café which is where his real adventure begins. Glory then launches its tenth server, and Ye Xiu decided to give Glory one more shot, and dives right in. His years of experience, and memories of his past as a professional games, compel him to continue his journey and rise to former glory.
“After fighting and scheming, who snatched away my glory? Under the tossing of the wind and rain, my dreams shall appear as though they had never been shattered. In all its splendor, the path shall never be lost. Before the gazes of millions, this is where I return!”
In 2012, Quan Zhi Gao Shou, as it is called in China, became an internet sensation for depicting the fairly realistic fall from glory of a top professional player as well as the drama of returning to the pro scene over the course of a year. Tencent, the company who is adapting the novel for the screen is also the majority stakeholder in League of Legends developer Riot Games, and Yuewen.com.
The eSports anime follows an already completed 1728 chapter Manga, however there is no official release date for the anime. Despite this, Tencent have said it will air at some point in 2017.
Tencent is the best company to take the reins of this project given their experience in eSports through being a LoL stakeholder.
