The New York Yankees have announced they will be including five new features to their stadium prior to the start of the 2017 baseball season. New Yankee Stadium, which was inaugurated after the 2008 season across the street from the old Yankee Stadium, will benefit from several additions that will make the fan experience at baseball games more immersive. Here are the following features:
Sunrun Kids Clubhouse: an interactive, miniature baseball diamond complete with artificial turf, bases, and other playground activities will be put in right field for all children to enjoy during the game. The Clubhouse will be accessible for all ticket holders in attendance. Parents can provide supervision in the nearby dugout, with television monitors available to continue watching the game. Restrooms will be provided, as well as a private area for nursing mothers to feed their children.
Mastercard Batter’s Deck: sitting atop the Mohegan Sun Sports Bar in centerfield, the Mastercard Batter’s deck provides a full view of the stadium under the lights. A bar will be provided that can serve as a popular watering hole during the game, or the sight of pregame gatherings with flowing food, craft beers, and cocktails.
Bullpen landings: originally, bleachers in left and right-center field sat above the home and visiting bullpens. On a sheer drop, only fans in the first row or two could look straight down and see what new arm the Yankees–or whoever their opponent is on that day–were preparing to bring in. The inclusion of the Bullpen landings flanking either side of the Mohegan Sun Sports Bar encourage fans in the bleacher seats to take the time to interact and socialize with the other fans in the open-air platforms. The Bullpen landings will also allow fans to gain a more interactive experience in the life of bullpen pitchers as they will be much closer than before while still maintaining a full view of the playing field in front of them.
AT&T Sports Lounge: this sports lounge provides the best of a sports bar, electronic cafe, and the Yankee Stadium experience. Located in Section 134, the AT&T Sports lounge provides an array of DirecTV monitors featuring not only the Yankee game, but other major sporting events that may be occurring that night. Craft beers will be made available to satiate any thirst while you enjoy the lounging area while charging your phone, tablet, or any other portable electronic device.
Budweiser Party Deck: this party deck will be available on the level 300 concourse around the stadium, with prominent locations at sections 311 and 328. Escape from under the lights for a bit as you stretch your legs, enjoying the refreshing craft beer, cocktails, and food that the Budweiser Party Deck has to offer.
It comes to no surprise that Yankee Stadium will be undergoing a little change. After all, the Yankees themselves experienced such a culture change during the 2016 season, so why shouldn’t their stadium make the same effort to remain up to date with the times?
