NBC 10 Philadelphia reports that De’von Pickett, Minaj’s road and tour manager and Eric Parker, a crew member were stabbed in Philadelphia after an altercation occurred. While the stabbing killed Pickett, Parker is still in critical condition.
The rapper took to social media to confirm the event when Minaj wrote, “Two members of my team were stabbed last night in Philly. One was killed. They had only been there for two days rehearsing for the tour. These guys flew into Philly for my tour rehearsals 2 days ago and were both stabbed last night. Another senseless act of violence that took the life of a great guy” she then went on to express her personal emotions by saying, “I am still in shock & don’t want to believe this.”
The incident occurred outside of Che Bar & Grill. According to Chief Inspector Scott Small, who gave a report to NBC 10, where he stated, “We believe that both of the victims, as well as the perpetrator, were all inside of this bar and that’s when an argument started.”
While the reason for the fight is still yet unknown, witnesses stated that they believe it nay have something to do with a recently fired employee.
Fellow artists and friend of Minaj, Rihanna gave her condolences by saying how she “Can’t believe this is true! one of the nicest, coolest, funniest people I’ve ever met and toured with! We had so much fun together!!! Sad to lose a beautiful spirit like yours #RIPDayDay,” Rihanna and Pickett were friends as well.
