President Barack Obama once again spoke out against Donald Trump in a news conference at the White house. Obama criticized his divisive campaign and sharp attacks directed at Mr. Khizir Khan and his wife over the weekend.
“I think the Republican nominee is unfit to serve as president,” Obama said, The notion that he would attack a Gold Star family that had made such extraordinary sacrifices on behalf of our country, the fact that he doesn’t appear to have basic knowledge around critical issues in Europe, in the Middle East, in Asia means that he’s woefully unprepared to do this job.”
Obama also went after house republicans that continue to back Trump after condemning his prejudice rhetoric and defending his statements.
“The question I think that they have to ask themselves is: If you are repeatedly having to say, in very strong terms, that what he has said is unacceptable, why are you still endorsing him?” Obama said. “What does this say about your party, that this is your standard-bearer?”
Trump responded to the attacks during a rally in Ashburn, Virginia revisiting Obama’s track record of destabilizing the middle east and derailing the economy. Obama’s remarks also prompted Republicans such as New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Vice Presidential nominee Mike Pence to disagree strongly.
Pence cited Trump’s strong support towards the military and armed forces when asked a question by a woman in the audience during a Nevada rally about Trump’s disrespect toward the Khan family. Trump has donated millions of dollars for veterans reform and was criticized by the media for it.
President Obama has been critical of Trump throughout the campaign trail and believes strongly he will lose in the General election.
