Obama Enjoyed a Beer at Breakfast in Germany

As President Obama’s every move it watched, the poor man can’t even enjoy a beer at 11 am half way around the world, in Germany.

President Obama was in Kruen, Germany on Sunday morning for the G-7 summit. The President and German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, shared a a traditional Bavarian breakfast. What was on the menu? Pretzels, sausages, alpenhorns, and of course beer, all being served by men in lederhosen. Reports quoted Obama saying,

“When I first heard Angela was hosting the G-7 in Bavaria, I was hoping that it would fall during Oktoberfest, But, then again, there’s never a bad day for a beer and a weisswurst.”

Social media went a-blazing with photos from the Head of State knocking back a cold one. It was not so much the fact that the President was drinking, it was the time; 11 am is just not a socially acceptable time to drink a beer here in the land of the free.

Thomas Schwarzenberger, the Mayor of Kruen, had told a Dutch news outlet that they were drinking nonalcoholic beer. The White House administration quickly shut that rumor down with an, LOL, Obama wouldn’t order a nonalcoholic beer. The Press Secretary John Earnest said “I don’t know what he was eventually served. But I would be very, very surprised if he ordered a nonalcoholic beer — even after an overnight flight on a Sunday morning.” After all, he does brew his own beer at home.

It was confirmed that the beer did in fact contain alcohol- 5 proof to be exact. The brew was even named “Summit Weissbier” in honor of the event taking place.

Obama said, “We should have all our summit meetings in this incredible village and drink beer[.]” He clearly enjoyed his trip to Germany.
