A Nigerian animal rights activist said that the killing of a dog named Roxie in her owner’s estate had sparked “outrage.”

“Roxie was a beautiful, well-bred companion dog,” said Jackie Idimogu. She’s with the canine welfare My Dog & I Group, a nonprofit located in Lagos.

According to Ms. Idimogu, she (Roxie) ran away from home in the middle of the night. This caused her owner to alert the estate’s security.

Roxie was found on another person’s property after becoming lost. Her owner was on their way to get her when a security guard allegedly shot her “three times” in front of them.

Since Roxie’s death, the public has been “rising up” in response to what it views as a lack of responsibility.

According to Ms. Idimogu, Roxie was exempt from the estate’s laws because she was neither aggressive nor had harmed anybody
