According to security officials and the army, at least three soldiers were killed on Friday. Militants attacked a temporary military facility in northwest Pakistan. A suicide bomber on a motorbike carried out the assault.

Pakistan has declared a new war on terrorists in reaction to a recent increase in attacks. The attacks have included a mosque bombing in February that killed over a hundred people. No one has claimed responsibility for the incident.

According to two anonymous sources, forces engaged militants for many hours on Thursday night in the district of Lakki Marwat, in a harsh tribal zone bordering Afghanistan.

According to them, at least three troops and countless rebels were killed. The men were on their way to a nearby military facility to report for service.

The military has confirmed three casualties and claimed its soldiers thwarted two further insurgent attacks in the same area.

In a statement, it claimed that “a motorcycle-borne suicide bomber exploded himself near a security forces post,” and that a violent exchange of fire ensued between the troops and the attackers.

The army is said to have killed seven of the attackers.

A dossier from a Pakistani intelligence agency that the attacks were from a new, unknown terrorist outfit known as Tehreek-e-Jihad Pakistan.

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan is also known as the Pakistani Taliban. It is an umbrella organization for a number of Sunni insurgent organizations that have long operated in the tribal region.

The local Taliban has been fighting against the government in an attempt to destabilize it. They wish to replace it with their own stringent form of Islamic governance.

The infrastructure and networks of the terrorists have been demolished as a result of several operations conducted by the Pakistani military, and their leaders have been forced into neighboring Afghanistan.
