The Chief of Police of this small town in Georgia claims that he accidentally shot his wife one time early New Years day in their bedroom. While investigators are looking into the incident there were no witnesses that could account for the Chief of Police’s statement of whether or not the shooting was indeed an accident.
William McCollum, has a good reputation amongst the citizens of Peachtree and has been deemed as well liked and loved. William called 911 just after the shooting happened, and his wife, Margaret McCollum, was rushed to Atlanta Medical Center in a helicopter and is due for emergency surgery this afternoon. Once his wife is abled to be interviewed, she will most likely clear any inquires whether the situation was an accident or not.
Since the shooting William has been under review and investigation. He was forced to go on leave from his position and appears to be fully cooperative with authorities, willing to answer any and all questions that are being asked of him.
“The town of Peachtree is definitely hurting,” says Lt. Mark Brown at a news conference early Friday morning, and the police department is going to ensure that everyone in the community is going to be take care of in this shocking time.
