In Suburban St. Louis, Missouri, a Police Officer was conducting a routine traffic stop in the town of Ballwin when he was shot point blank in the neck. At the moment, not much is known about the suspect besides the fact that he was a black male and a convicted felon. The suspect was apprehended a short time after the shooting after a chase on foot, where a handgun was also discovered.
According to Rafer Weigel, a news anchor from St Louis, the last time a Police Officer was involved in a shooting in Ballwin was on June 27th, 1987. Ballwin was also credited as one of the safest cities in 2016 study.
