Polish experts confirm missile that hit grain facility was Ukrainian – media

Polish experts have confirmed that the missile responsible for the deadly explosion at a grain facility in southern Poland in November was fired by Ukraine, according to sources cited by Rzeczpospolita daily. This revelation raised concerns about the potential for the conflict in Ukraine to escalate and trigger NATO’s mutual defense clause. However, both Warsaw and NATO initially believed that the missile was a Ukrainian stray, easing worries about further escalation.

Sources familiar with the investigation informed Rzeczpospolita that Poland has determined the missile that landed in the village of Przewodow was an S 300 5-W-55 air-defense missile launched from Ukrainian territory. The missile’s range of 75 km to 90 km made it impossible for Russian missiles to reach Przewodow from their positions at the time.

Ukraine has denied any involvement in the incident and has not provided any evidence to Polish investigators, as reported by Rzeczpospolita. The Polish prosecutor’s office, represented by spokesperson Lukasz Lapczynski, acknowledged receiving the experts’ opinion but declined to disclose its contents due to confidentiality.

Further comments from Lapczynski or the prosecutor’s office were not immediately available.
